Finally! Photos of the Gossip Girl-inspired Anna Sui for Target collection are now available. The collection is organized in four distinct groups; outfits befitting Blair, Serena, Vanessa and Jenny.
I don't watch the show, but plan to catch up on all of the seasons when they become available on DVD. What do you think? Are the outfits consistent with the styles of each of the four featured characters?
The 19 piece collection will be available in 250 select Target stores September 13 through October 17. For pictures of the entire collection, click here. Click on the label below for vintage Style Collaborations posts.
Beth Ditto, lead singer of punk rock group Gossip, fashion darling, gay rights activist, feminist, champion for plus size causes and model--most notably as the cover girl for Conde Nast's Love magazine--has designed a line of 80's inspired clothing for the plus size British retailer, Evans. The fashion world has long been criticized for the dearth of high (and lo) fashions for the full figured woman. Many retailers are seeking to address this problem by creating lines geared towards youth oriented plus sizes (see Faith21 for Forever21 discussed infra). Evans, owned by the Arcadia Group, which is parent company to TopShop, was taken to task by Ditto, who demanded that she be allowed to design a line for the company and voila . . . the rest is history. Recession chic at its best!
Cristóbal Balenciaga, whose sculptural designs were once regarded as masterworks of haute couture, lives on through the artful direction of Nicolas Ghesquière. Ghesquière's Cruise 2010 creations evinces Cristóbal's inventiveness and affirms a commitment to the House's innovations: high waisted dresses, broadening of shoulders, removal of the waist and, of course, play on proportions and volume. Balenciaga Cruise 2010 is a joy to see and must be fun to wear! For pictures of the entire collection click here.

Noted still-life photographer Peter Lippmann has paired with Christian Louboutin to work on the French luxury shoe designer's latest ad campaign.
"Ad campaign" seems too pedestrian a term to describe the works produced. Speaking of Objets D'Art! Louboutin's already masterful pieces were re-imagined as 18th century still life art.
The Fall Winter campaign was styled by Amandine Moine; Nicolas Menu was the creative director.

One of the perks of having this blog is getting the opportunity to try amazing products, often times before they hit the market. I'm in essence, a bit of a guinea pig, but I do it all for you. Cry me a river, right? In all seriousness, I love products and was psyched to receive some more, courtesy of Cantu Shea Butter. Cantu's body butter, pictured at left, is as decadent as they come, but is suprisingly light and . . . fluffly; it is. It's less like a butter and more like soufflé. Known for their wide ranging line of haircare products, Cantu is now bringing their 100% pure shea goodness to skincare. Cantu's three new innovative products include the Nourishing Body Oil and Body Butter for maintenance of that fab beach body and Clear Conditioning "Extra Hold" Shine Gel to keep that summer hair at bay. The products retail for a budget friendly $4.99 and $3.99; purchase your Cantu products at a retailer near you. It's better with butter! Tell 'em I sent ya.
How apropos. Neutrals are it this season, and the Gap is right on trend. In seasons past, the retailer has paired with Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)/Vogue Fashion Fund winners to rework the classic white shirt--for which the Gap is known.

Have you seen the new Liz Claiborne ads? Better yet, have you seen the new Liz Claiborne? As discussed previously, Isaac Mizrahi is the new creative director and he has completely overhauled the brand . . . and has spearheaded a new ad campaign as well. The colorful advertisements feature real women of all ages, races, shapes and sizes, and a "disguised" Isaac makes a cameo appearance in most. I would like to call your attention to the woman featured in the orange dress above left: Shana Jackson, proprietor of Collecther vintage boutique.
What's black, white and red all over? Chanel's 2010 Cruise Collection! Recalling the elegance and opulence of the roaring 20's, Karl Lagerfeld's romantic collection is chock full of nautical stripes, pearls, chiffon and what's Chanel without boucle and lace? Featuring models such as Jourdan Dunn (shown at left), Lara Stone and Tatjana Patiz, the flapper-chic presentation was complemented by silent-movie makeup and wavy wigs. Held on the Lido in Venice, at twilight, guests reclined on deck chairs as the catwalkers strutted on the boardwalk. Lagerfeld sought to "reinvent the mystique" of the city in which Mme. Chanel frequently went on holiday, by using fabrics of rich Venetian red and dresses in the style of Fortuny. The collection exhibited Lagerfeld's modern-day mastery of the decorative arts and, much like Venetian artistic brethren of centuries past, commanding use of color. Bellissimo!

Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter Erykah Badu, along with Adrian Grenier, Kelly Slater and a team of Parsons students, each of whom are deemed to be "socially conscious celebrity influencers", have joined forces with Kiehl's to design label art for the brand's Superbly Restorative Argan Body Lotion. The initiative was launched just in time to celebrate Earth Day.
Known for her whimsical designs -- imagine a golden saltine cracker, a fortune cookie and a lucky wishbone as necklaces--Emily Elizabeth utilizes the mundane and often overlooked everyday items as inspiration for her line. I love the leaves and flowers that appear throughout and positively swooned when I saw the Venus headband! Emily Elizabeth works primarily with goldplated brass (pieces can be customized and plated in variations of gold) and was recession chic well before some of us ever heard of a collateralized debt obligation; the price on each of these sparklers belies the ingenuity and attention to detail. Her line is divided into three collections: "Sweet and Pretty", "Cool and Kitschy" and "Elegant and Sophisticated". I think they're all Just Darling!
