WHO IS GENEVIEVE JONES?

I first saw Genevieve in Vogue-- where she was dubbed "girl of the moment". As is custom, I grabbed my laptop and googled her... I didn't find much, but my how things have changed! The internet is rife with articles and pictures of the "it girl"!

There's been much to-do about the mystery that is Genevieve. Everyone wants to know who she is and from whence she came...The Wall Street Journal even featured her on the front page of their September 14, 2006 issue.

Genevieve is good friend and muse to Zac Posen and a host of other designers and celebrities.
Weighing in at 100 lbs. (all 5'6" of her), it's no wonder that designers throw their gear her way.

With Zac Posen at Paper Magazine's and M.A.C. Cosmetics' recent party for the designer.

She is popular, and like many traditional "socialites", is invited to charity events, gallery openings and premiere's...and is often given designer clothing to wear to such. This is troubling to NYC's elite circle because she's not a typical socialite. Her education, breeding (ugh), and motives are constantly questioned...but they do not, rather, cannot question or doubt her style! Such is the beauty of New York City!

Notwithstanding all the hoopla, I think Genevieve is fabulous and tres chic! Check out her pics on Vogue's style.com.

I know! That's why I hate NYC. This city is full of snobs who look down on everyone else based on pedigree and then slams LA for only caring about beauty. I say yay for beauty; nay for pedigree!

Yeah the article put her on blast and she ran out of town for a couple of weeks. It shows we are still in a racist world. There are so many white chicks running around with BS on their forheads and they put honey on blast.

As a displaced born and raised NY'er I have to step in and say Don't blame NYC for a bunch of rich white women having a problem that this black girl infiltrated their "circle". Our motto is if you can make here you can make it anywhere. And the fact that she is now hobnobbing with Andre Leon and Zac is good proof of that. Socialites in Texas or North Carolina would act the same way...the difference is the likelyhood that she would have even made it anywhere near them in those states is slim to none. Viva NYC, baby!
BTW I love, love, love this blog!

I actually went to middle and high school with Genevieve in Baton Rouge, LA, where I still reside. Her transformation is amazing to me, considering she was always different, but never actually what you would consider "it". A very sweet girl none-the-less, who spent many weekends at my home, I am very happy for her and hope that she accomplishes all that her heart desires.
